Dearborn Heights police officer suspended for allegedly trying to influence case

DEARBORN HEIGHTS — A veteran police officer has been placed on administrative leave and received a write-up in his personnel file, Police Chief Lee Gavin said Thursday.
The officer was put on leave a few weeks ago and the investigation is ongoing, Gavin added. Gavin declined to say why the officer was placed on leave. An unnamed source said the officer reportedly approached the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office about changing the outcome of a case in which he knows the defendant.
